The New 2013 Ford Mustang had been getting a marketing push lately, fronted by a new catchy tv spot. I actually really like the redesign of the new Mustang. I think the back end in particular recalls the classic look of the late 60's Shelby Cobras. It helps that they've marketed this new-old look with a cool-looking/sounding commercial. I also liked the Black Swan reference thrown in at the end.

The song featured in the ad is 'How it Starts' by The Features. Bit of a hard edge to the song. I almost want to compare it to The Black Keys... but for how The Back Keys are a throwback band, The Features seem like a more modernized version of that sound. Not quite as raw and hard-rocking, but with some of those elements and a bit of synth thrown in there.
Here's a live version I've been playing a lot lately:
I'll try to make this the last "commercial song" post I do for a while. I like to have the tv on low when I'm studying, and whenever a song catches my ear I make a note of it. Just seems like it's been happening a lot lately.
That was a pretty cool advert, and the car reflecting a girl in a black outfit that defied who she was on the outside, that was pretty damn cool.
ReplyDeleteI really like that.
ReplyDeleteGreat commercial, and the new Mustangs look sick!
ReplyDeleteI think a good commercial is one that has a catchy song that makes me remember it. I like the Mustang one.
ReplyDeleteLOL at the end. It didn't seem likely that they'd have a pink Mustang to round off the ad.
ReplyDeleteAhhh that's a great commercial not corny like the Chrylser commercials and not dumb as hell like the KIA commercials lol.
ReplyDeletevery cool cars
ReplyDeleteThe song is great
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are making better commercials lately, still like the older Mustangs better though.
ReplyDeletecool track, never heard of these guys before.
ReplyDeletegreat looking car
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed those commercials. Clever.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so darn catchy!! I like the mustang ones better though ;)
ReplyDeletecool i like that
ReplyDeleteo know that to expensive bec. the old mustang restored almost $140.000
ReplyDeleteI've always liked the older mustangs and i like how they started reverting to that just updated version of it
ReplyDeleteI like the black swan reference as well. It also plays nicely with assumed gender preferences.
ReplyDeleteNew Mustang?
ReplyDeleteWhat. A. Look.
When I finally become rich, this will be the first thing I will buy.
Also, loved the song. The Black Keys comparsion is just ok, their last albums has some touch of electronica too.
Wish they really changed color
ReplyDeletePretty awesome little song. Great use in the commercial. ALmost maes me want to watch more cable.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you typo'd swan.
got it. I can't type... or spell
DeleteUgh, this just serves to remind me that I really need to get my license.
ReplyDeleteI must say I've definitely got something for old-fashioned cars. They tend to last a lot longer too. It's not uncommon for me to see cars from 30 years ago still running around while recent models tend to be gone in far less time.
ReplyDeletemustangs are sick. i like em better than camaros. the original gone in 60 seconds was pretty awesome too.
ReplyDelete'Builtt"!
ReplyDeleteGreat commercial
ReplyDeletenice songs haha
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome and cool.
