Well, Lowe's is at it again, with two commercials making the rounds earworming their way into my brain. Lowe's must be the new Apple as far as that goes.
The first commercial is titled "Fresh Cut Grass" and shows the aroma of cut grass waking someone up to go do yardwork. The song featured is "Good Morning" by The Kicks.
Here's the full song from youtube
It's very catchy and familiar sounding... Quite honestly I think the chorus bears a striking resemblance to Mott the Hoople's "All the Young Dudes". Not that I'm complaining, I love that song.
The other Lowe's commercial floating around is a pretty cool concept. It's titled "Coloring Book". The commercial shows a man and woman in a new home, sketching out plans on their blank-canvas walls and the real things popping out. And the girl looks just like Aubrey Plaza from 'Parks and Recreation'.
The song featured is "Naked Eye" by Oxford, and features a catchy 'do-do-dododododo' chorus.
The song itself is very bubbly and light with a quick beat. It centers around some nice acoustic-guitar playing and a nonsense 'do-do' chorus. But catchy nonetheless.
I never thought I'd say this, but at this point I'm kind of looking forward to the next Lowe's commercial.
Love the tune, heh.
ReplyDeleteThey do seem to be making really catchy commercials, I'll have that stuck in my head for a while now. Looking forward to a commercial, what has life come to?..haha
ReplyDeleteWell done and nice songs!
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend is allergic to fresh cut grass. Instead of being pulled into the garden in a burst of euphoria, she'd be sneezing, red, and puffy.
ReplyDeleteI'll pass. Fuck you, Lowe's.
lol fuck lowes and their mott the hoople ripoff band
Deletemaybe Lowe's should start carrying antihistamines
ReplyDeleteNice songs, nice post man.
ReplyDeleteGreat commercials, and the songs match the videos perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThe grass one just makes me so excited that spring is here, I love the smell of fresh cut grass.
ReplyDeleteThose are commercials done right. Engaging with sight and sound. They'll go even farther at that rate.
ReplyDeleteThose are nice commercials. I'd never seen the before!

A catchy tune is something that makes a commercial bearable, sadly there are too many commercials that think they have catchy tunes when what they have is annoyance beyond measure.
ReplyDeletecool songs
ReplyDeletedidnt listen, cause i dont want the song stuck in my head lol :D
ReplyDeleteGreat vids bro
ReplyDeleteThese are VERY catchy. Not as bad as the dollop for daisy though. LOL
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the old Arby's Ovenmitt commercials. I loved those.
ReplyDeleteCatchy stuff, seeing things out of their contest reveals the art in them.
ReplyDeleteMy friends attended The Kicks gig, highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteThose are some nice songs and I bet they worked.
ReplyDeleteI like this songs, but commercials aren't so great.
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaker, with your .44, I want to tear your world apart. Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo
ReplyDeleteI been wracking my brain trying to remember where that "doo doo doo " really came from. @ 1:28, the connection is made:

The do-do-do part of Naked Eye is very reminiscent of Rocky Raccoon
